Role Summary

This role is to be the technical subject matter expert in data analytics for the Quantium India business.  Reporting to the Executive, Head of India, the role supports and drives analytical outcomes for internal stakeholders within Quantium and external clients alike.The key focus is to oversee the technical scoping, build and delivery of all analytics projects in Quantium’s India office.  This will require coaching, inspiring and developing technical analytics professionals to build high performing teams that deliver quality outcomes whilst managing complex projects. Success will see you partnering with internal clients as a trusted analytical advisor to deliver high quality and impactful solutions for external clients.  Success will also be the improved technical capability of the Indian analytics team to deliver technically excellent outcomes. 

 Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality technical solutions with high commercial client value to improve and reinforce external and internal client relationships
  • Oversee the technical delivery of analytical projects on time and on budget, from briefing and scoping through to methodology building and execution, ensuring adherence to Quantium’s quality and privacy standards
  • Build a high performing analytics team in India including supporting recruitment of new talent
  • Lead and drive improvements in the technical capability of the analytics team in India through clear communication and explanation of quality standards, training and coaching of Leads, inspring the team and overseeing on-the-job and formal training for other analytics staff
  • Improve the commercial capabilities of Indian Leads through overseeing project delivery to drive a focus on measurable commercial value for clients
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships in India and across Quantium globally through both traditional stakeholder engagement and through driving the teams to deliver high quality analytics outputs
  • Contribute to product development, internal knowledge sharing and general industry expertise through identification of emerging themes, problems and opportunities
  • Drive innovation from Quantium India to Quantium globally through the identification, prioritisation and implementation of technical opportunities
  • Build a strong and cordial working relationship with team members and provide a learning environment to bring out the best in them by clearly understanding their strengths and weaknesses 

 Key Activities

  • Lead and support all analytics team members in India, from Associate through to Lead level, to design and deliver quality analytical solutions across multiple projects within time and budget constraints
  • Guide, inspire and coach analysts on best practice technical and QA approaches
  • Quality review and correction of technical project deliverables
  • Oversight of project management activities to ensure Leads are supported and empowered to run projects to quality, time and budget
  • Senior stakeholder management across both ANZ Markets and Product Analytics
  • Work with peers and more senior team members to provide technical thought leadership on how the India office can add value to internal and external clients
  • Improve the technical ability of Analysts so that they develop better analytics assets and methodologies, translating insights into meaningful, actionable advice
  • Engage with stakeholders across Product & Technology to support the design, implementation and execution of Product solutions we deliver
  • Apply judgement, commercial acumen, and intelligence to make considered decisions or come to practical conclusions where there is natural ambiguity
  • Provide expert knowledge to internal clients and stakeholders and make recommendations to create value and enhance the relationship with both internal and external clients
  • Oversee the preparation of presentations for senior stakeholders, including external clients, to communicate complex analytics and insights
  • Monitor employee performance, offering regular feedback and coaching, determining strategies to help improve performance and address issues promptly
  • Participate in the recruitment process for Analytics talent
  • Drive learning & development initiatives to help close capability gaps and to support the professional development of the India Analytics Community
  • Strive to leverage best practices, methodologies, technical solutions and frameworks from the broader Analytics Community within Quantium rather than re-invent by building strong working relationship with the Community.
  • People management including setting objectives and KPIs, performance reviews, feedback, career mentoring and career pathing for direct reports
  • Help the team solve complex problems using analytics techniques
  • Support implementation of the Quality Assurance framework, delivery framework, performance measurement metrics and customer surveys (internal and external) by working closely with the Executive,  Head of India
  • Support the Executive, Head of India to embed the Quantium culture in the India office
  • Continue to research and learn new industry best practices on analytics and introduce them where that would improve the efficiency of delivery and quality of the solutions developed

Experience and Education Required

  • 7+ years’ experience in an analytics environment, leading data analytics or data science projects
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, mathematics, actuarial studies, statistics, physics, or a related discipline
  • Experience working within one of Quantium’s key industry verticals, either as an external or internal consultant desirable
  • Solid Experience and knowledge of technical analytics, including data preparation, foundational analytics concepts, analytical model development, model operationalisation, model performance measurement, model management and model training
  • Coding and analytics experience using SQL (any flavour) and at least one analytics-focused language such as R or Python
  • Commercial acumen to understand business needs and be able to suggest the commercial impacts of different analytics solutions or approaches
  • Demonstrable ability to proactively identify, understand and translate strategic business needs into technical opportunities and solutions for new and existing clients to build lasting partnerships
  • Ability to translate complex analytics, insights and/or outcomes into presentations (written and verbal) to senior stakeholders (both internal and external) in simple terms demonstrating value to the business
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Experience in project management and inspirational leadership, including effective delegation and management of multi-skilled team, to deliver projects on time and on budget
  • Experience in managing and coaching the performance and development of others by bringing out the best in them
  • Track record of working collaboratively with clients
  • Collaborative and engaging style with an ability to understand what matters to stakeholders
  • Ability to apply both Agile and Waterfall style project management methologies and frameworks

What does success look like?

After 6 months in the role the incumbent will:

  • Fully understand what the Quantium standards of technical excellence are and is able to deliver analytics solutions to these standards on a small-medium scale
  • Be knowledgeable and able to speak confidently about Quantium’s products and solutions
  • Be knowledgeable about Quantium’s key clients that are supported by the India office including knowledge of key internal and external stakeholders and how we drive commercial value to these clients
  • Be across all the processes required to deliver against the role
  • Start to manage the team autonomously
  • Be providing technical guidance to direct reports and analysts on the team to support delivery at Quantium standards of technical excellence
  • Be knowledgeable of the overall business and ANZ Markets & Product and Technology objectives

After 12 months in the role the incumbent is expected to:

  • Oversee Analytics Leads on the technical delivery of all analytical projects with quality outcomes
  • Have developed and be implementing a program to improve technical excellence of all India based analytics staff
  • Be regarded as an Analytical Subject Matter Expert within Quantium
  • Built up strong career development plans for India Analytics Leads, and the Analytics teams beneath them
  • Work with the Analytics Community to roll out all Community initiatives to the India team
  • Work with the Analytics Community to develop new initiatives to be owned by the India team
  • Drive innovation through Analytics Business Units, supporting Quantium’s long term Product pipeline
  • Develop additional analytical Quantium Professional Development (QPD) courses
  • Supporting R&D initiatives across both Analytics BUs and Product Development
