The opportunity

This is an incredible opportunity for a motivated and intelligent analytics leader to join Australia’s leading data science and AI company. You will come in to lead technical analytical work, partnering with consultants and other analysts to transform client’s questions into analytical solutions, with a focus on driving innovation, automation and productisation. 

 

Some things you’ll be involved with include:   

 

  • Team management: leading a team of technical analysts (~3-5 direct reports) 
  • Member of Analytics Leadership Team tasked with setting the strategy, expectations and culture of the FMCG analytics team 
  • Accountable for developing the next generation of advanced analytics solutions that will transform the way our FMCG clients use data 
  • Accountable for the analytics quality and delivery of key FMCG projects (including descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics) 
  • Includes task management of project team and providing estimates of work effort, timeframes, costings and resourcing for analytical tasks 
  • Be accountable for solution design, analytical methodology / technique and quality assurance and be involved in delivery or build of analytical solutions 
  • Partnering with consultants to ensure projects are delivered successfully and ROI is maximised for clients 
  • Supporting consultants with client interaction as needed e.g. providing technical SME advice and project updates to clients over the phone or in face-to-face meetings 
  • Convert data into meaningful, actionable recommendations for Quantium's clients 
  • Support with business development and thought leadership for FMCG clients 

 

About you 

 

  • Strong coding experience in at least one of SQL / Python / R / Scala 
  • The desire and ability to quickly learn languages such as Python  
  • Approximately 7+ years’ experience in a highly technical analytics environment, carrying out data analytics 
  • Ideally, we are seeking experience in working with large customer and / or sales transactional datasets and solving commercial business problems 
  • Well-developed commercial acumen to understand business needs and be able suggest the commercial impacts of different analytics solutions or approaches 
  • Experience in supervising the work of others as a senior team member, project manager or direct manager 
  • Experience in managing a team of analysts 
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, mathematics, actuarial studies, statistics, physics, or a related discipline 
  • Working experience in advanced analytics disciplines e.g. predictive modelling and / or machine learning techniques (e.g. GLM, GBM, clustering techniques etc). Not every Lead Analyst will be conversant in every discipline, but should aim to have: 
  • Enough skills in several disciplines or techniques to autonomously apply without the need for material guidance or revision by others; and 
  • Experience in at least one discipline or technique to be an authoritative source of guidance and support for the team, and to be able to solve problems of a high technical complexity in this domain 
  • Strong innovative and creative mindset with a desire to automate solutions
