Role summary

The Senior Consultant is a heavily technical role with accountability for the delivery of multiple projects within the Insurance Industry vertical, including the management of the analytics quality on these projects, and guidance of junior staff. The Senior Analyst works with the Lead Analyst and / or Executive Manager on projects to transform client questions and issues into analytical solutions, as well as supporting business development activities for key clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Accountable for the analytics quality and delivery of key Insurance projects
  • Transforming client questions and issues into analytical solutions
  • Task management including overseeing and delegating technical tasks amongst analysts
  • Demonstrate an interest in coaching and people development
  • Support the Lead Analyst with solution design
  • Support the Lead Analyst and Executive Manager with business development activities for Banking & Wealth clients
    • Potentially management and accountability for performance management for a small number of analysts

Key activities

  • Deliver a range of technical tasks and oversee delivery from junior staff on projects across multiple clients
  • Review and management of analytics quality on key projects
  • Providing estimates of work effort, timeframes and costings for analytics tasks
  • Support the Lead Consultant or Executive Manager in Developing and delivering meaningful, actionable solutions that help the client to achieve their objectives
  • Day to day external client relationship and stakeholder management for key projects within their remit
  • Support the Lead Analyst with architecting analytics solutions for key client questions
  • Support Leads with business development activities for ANZ Markets clients by attending client meetings and developing supporting material where relevant
  • Participation in Analytics Community initiatives, such as knowledge sharing, skills development, organisation or facilitation at events, etc.
    • Set objectives for any direct reports and manage overall performance, and provide regular coaching and feedback, putting in place performance plans if performance is not of the required standard to achieve objectives

Experience and education required

  • 5+ years’ experience in a highly technical analytics environment, carrying out data analytics or data science work
  • Experience in supervising the work of others as a senior team member, project manager or team leader
  • Tertiary qualifications in engineering, mathematics, actuarial studies, statistics, physics, or a related discipline
  • Advanced knowledge of technical analytics discipline, including data preparation, feature engineering and foundational analytics concepts, predictive model development and model training
  • Coding and / or modelling experience in SAS / SQL / R / Python
  • Experience with Emblem and Radar is an advantage
  • Experience with successfully managing both internal and external stakeholders, delivering against projects, tasks and activities in a dynamic deadline driven environments
  • Some experience and knowledge within General Insuranceis preferred
  • Commercial acumen to understand business needs and be able to suggest the commercial impacts of different analytics solutions or approaches
