Role summary

The Executive Manager, FMCG plays a key leadership role in the FMCG practice, leading the Melbourne and Brisbane teams to deliver world class products and consulting services to Quantium’s FMCG clients in Australia. You will lead key client relationships and build and manage a high performing team to support revenue, profitability and the on-going success of the FMCG business in all states outside New South Wales.

You will be a key member of the FMCG leadership team and work closely with key members across the business to grow Global markets more broadly. You will interact with client stakeholders from junior to C-suite level to support the FMCG consultants as needed and partner with product. Customer success, technical and delivery teams to develop and deliver outstanding solutions to our clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Executives of FMCG and the FMCG Leadership Team to deliver commercial objectives
  • Build and manage the Melbourne FMCG team in Australia ensuring they have the right capabilities and resources to deliver outstanding quality and recommendations to our clients
  • Lead business development and client management for FMCG clients outside of New South Wales through identifying near and longer-term opportunities within the sector. Oversee the delivery of client outcomes and ensure the core FMCG team deliver significant client value and achieve net promoter score objectives
  • Work with the Executive Retail Product to input into global Retail Product strategy, and the product roadmap for development of new FMCG products

Key Activities

  • Support the Executives of FMCG, contribute to strategy and annual business plan for the FMCG vertical
  • Manage the Melbourne FMCG team to deliver against performance metrics: revenue, profitability, utilisation and recoverability targets
  • Lead the business development activities for key existing and prospective clients to sell product licences and win consulting work including supporting proposals, business development discussions, leveraging network and providing expert advice
  • Work closely with the Retail Product team to ensure clients’ needs are understood
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Global markets and other business unit initiatives to ensure operational excellence
  • Coach and mentor direct reports to build capability including; setting development objectives, providing regular feedback and managing performance
  • Work with the Resourcing Business Leads in ANZ Markets to optimise allocation and utilisation of resources
  • Work closely with Quantium’s Product & Technology team to align on product priorities, as an input to the product development pipeline for FMCG products
  • In conjunction with the General Counsel embed processes and procedures to manage identified risk.  This specifically includes risk associated with:
  • Data partnership agreements
  • Data and privacy regulations
  • Develop and execute processes to manage competitor risk and significant client risk
  • Participate in external client and industry events
  • Provide feedback and support to peers to support their success

Experience, education and skills required

  • 13+ years’ experience with at least 2 years operating at a senior level in a client facing capacity or negotiating with C-suite customers in a commercial capacity
  • Deep experience in the FMCG industry, preferably with customer data experience and exposure to data / technology environment with a significant network at Senior Levels
  • Demonstrable experience in identifying, targeting and winning new work at existing and/or new clients and managing deep client relationships
  • Degree qualified; postgraduate qualifications highly valued
  • Sharp problem-solving skills with experience partnering with clients and stakeholders to solve complex commercial problems using a data driven approach 
  • Proven track record in managing large and complex client engagements with multiple streams
  • Experience engaging and influencing senior client executives on difficult business issues, leveraging capability to build long-term relationships
  • Stakeholder management experience including having worked with senior leadership teams and reporting into a C-suite Executive
  • Ability to work in a matrix structure, developing employees outside of own industry vertical(s)
