The Data Science Lead is a technical leadership and people management role that combines direct accountability for the analytics strategy, quality and success across multiple strategic projects within Quantium's Health and Government practice. The Lead Analyst transforms client questions and issues into analytical solutions as well as partners with key clients to strengthen our commercial relationship. Success will see you partnering with clients to start or continue and strengthen our commercial relationship.

The Data Science Lead is also required to share their knowledge and keep their knowledge current through a combination of literature review, facilitation of experimentation in approaches, and collaboration with peers. This technical leadership role should provide a springboard to innovation across the wider business. 

This role can be based in Canberra / Sydney / Melbourne with interstate travel to be expected.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of key analytical projects to clients, from briefing through to execution, ensuring adherence to quality standards
  • Accountable for the design and build of the analytics strategy, quality and success across major projects in QH&G
  • People management including setting objectives and KPIs, performance reviews, feedback, career mentoring, career pathing for direct reports
  • Use insight to present compelling stories that deliver tangible commercial value
  • Be a champion for advanced analytics across the broader team to lift the overall capability and impact that our solutions have in delivering superior value to our clients
  • Support business development and coordinate proposal writing

Experience  

  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline
  • Experience in a highly technical analytics environment, carrying out data analytics or data science work
  • Experience in managing teams of analysts and supervising the work of others as a senior team member, project manager or team leader
  • Project management experience – engagement with clients around scope and cadence of projects
  • Advanced knowledge of analytics, including data preparation, core analytics and modelling (such as: descriptive analytics (including dashboard construction), predictive analytics (regression, machine learning) and simulation modelling.
  • Data visualisation - this includes familiarity with at least one common visualisation tool, as well as experience in engaging future visualisation consumers as to their needs and requirements
  • Experience in communicating statistics in a commercial or government setting - translating complex analytics, insights and/or outcomes into presentations (written and verbal) to senior stakeholders (both internal and external)
  • Flexibility to travel interstate for projects
  • Australian citizenship is essential
