Role summary

This role is to provide strategic engineering direction and leadership for the engineering capabilities that have been assembled to deliver cloud-based applications to Quantium’s customers. This person will be part of a leadership team that is responsible for leading the engineering capability of the Quantium Group to deliver on the growth plans of the business.  In conjunction with the Executive, engineering this role will develop and implement a detailed engineering strategy, leading and managing engineering teams in the Hyderabad office. The appropriate leader will bring engineering thought leadership and a proven ability to harness technology talent to drive commercial business outcomes. 

 

 

 

Key responsibilities

·         Oversee the engineering team leading the design, build and deployment of big data analytics solutions on Quantium’s cloud-based environments

·         Manage multiple teams of Engineers, with a particular focus on ensuring robust development plans and mentoring opportunities are in place and acted upon

·         Oversee the delivery of quality software and data assets as well as participation in the engineering community

·         Provide technical support for production applications and data pipelines

·         Communicate solutions and rationale to relevant business stakeholders

·         Engage with clients, vendors and other stakeholders as required

·         Work with the Architecture team and analytical stakeholders from around the business to develop sustainable solutions that will generate value for Quantium

·         Where required, support Leads to conduct thorough code reviews to ensure appropriate team development and drive process that will promote strong quality assurance

·         Drive the contribution of your team of developers to technology-specific 'communities' to share knowledge and experience across projects

·         Operate in and promote the agile methodology for effective solution delivery

·         Be a thought leader in Engineering by performing broad market analysis and research to be constantly up to date with what is going on the in the Engineering domain, uses of data and AI, competitor activities etc

·         Participate in preparation and delivery of executive briefings on these topics with clients and internally

·         Contribute to Quantium’s business strategy through participating in Product & Technology leadership meetings and provide opinion and advice to the leadership team

·         Provide expert input as required into development of Product & Technology strategy

·         Attend Quantium Day and Strategy Day and other key business meetings as required

 

Experience and education required

Must haves

·         Tertiary qualifications Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related industry

·         10+ years’ commercial experience working in a data driven environment

·         5+ years’ commercial experience in a data driven (ideally data dependent) environment in an engineering leadership role

·         Excellent written, verbal & presentation skills, leveraged both internally and externally

·         Strong leadership skills particularly within strategic initiatives such as technical direction of the engineering practice

·         Management experience managing a team of highly technical engineers

·         Strong experience effectively managing internal stakeholders

·         Exposure to Infrastructure as Code scripting tools such as Terraform or Ansible

·         Good understanding of CI/CD tooling and modern engineering practices particularly in the DevOps space

·         Passionate about solving problems and leading teams to write efficient code

·         Awareness of considerations around structuring data on distributed systems to support analytic use cases

·         Experienced working with a team of analysts and developers in a cross-functional and agile environment

 

What does success look like?

·         Collaborative working relationship with Executive group across Product Management, Analytics, Engineering, Data Management

·         Recommendations delivered and endorsed with peers & Executives on Quantium’s annual engineering roadmap

·         All direct reports and extended team members’ development plans and KPI’s are reviewed and confirmed

·         Existing development projects are delivered on time and within budget, or an action plan in place that is agreed with management

·         Robust processes are in place for recruitment and development of new talent into the team

·         Team are heavily involved in mentoring across the organisation and are active participants in the analytic and architectural communities

·         Quality standards for code are upward trending and have not fallen below existing standards
