The Role

The Enterprise Network Engineer is responsible for providing high-quality support for Quantium’s network infrastructure across the globe.

 

This role is key to delivering Quantium’s technology strategy moving forward. A fundamental understanding of current network technology and carrier connectivity is essential. Experience and knowledge of SDN, Cloud networking and network virtualisation would be highly beneficial.

 

The Network engineer is key to delivering IT operations network services and essential in evaluating new technology to build future capability. Self-reliance, a drive to learn, and the ability to find innovative solutions to problems are crucial, as is the ability to build strong working relationships, understand business requirements and processes as they relate to the Network.

 

Key responsibilities

·         Support, manage, and maintain the voice and data networks with the aim to meet Quantium’s business requirements with maximum uptime and zero defects.

·         Maintain and operate real time and historical network reporting systems/procedures to ensure accurate capacity planning and fast identification of problems.

·         Work under the guidance of the IT Operations Lead and Senior Network Engineer to contribute in the development and implementation of new technology solutions.

·         Lead the implementation and operationalization phases of new deployments of standard solutions.

·         Work alongside the infrastructure engineering team (server/storage/EUC) and service desk personnel to provide network related input in all projects, BAU, and support activities.  

·         Process improvement within the Network team.

·         Liaise with external vendors as required

 

 

Key activities

·         Successfully manage faults to return service to normal as promptly after an incident, in a way that has little to no negative impact on Quantium or its clients

·         Effectively manage the lifecycle of all problems to prevent incidents and resulting problems from reoccurring, minimizing the impact of issues that cannot be prevented

·         Successfully manage changes to the environment adhering to our rigorous change management processes

  • Attend business stakeholder meetings with the IT Operations Lead to understand requirements from a network perspective

Experience and education required

Essential

 

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in the technology field

·         4+ years’ experience in a similar role

·         Team working and collaborative nature, tolerance for ambiguity

·         Mid-level industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP

·         Ability to demonstrate fundamental knowledge of common network technologies such as IP routing, VRF, ethernet switching, stateful firewalling, remote access VPN and Network Access Control (NAC) systems

·         Cisco Identity Services Engine, Cisco DNAC, Cisco SD-WAN administration

·         Palo Alto and ASA Firewall administration

·         Cisco Router, WLC and Switch administration

 

                Desired

 

·         ITIL certification

·         Worked in an ISO27001 certified environment

·         Citrix ADC or other load balancer administration

·         Exposure to Megaport, GCP PI, Azure Express Route, or other cloud connection services

·         Experience working with virtualisation technologies such as VMWare

·         Experience working with public cloud environments such as GCP or Azure

·         Experience working with Data Centre networking technologies such as VXLAN EVPN,                  VMware NSX or Cisco ACI

·         Experience working with automation technologies such as Ansible or Terraform
