The Role

The Infrastructure Engineer will work within the IT Infrastructure team, with a primary focus on the administration, maintenance and ongoing improvement of all core IT infrastructure services at Quantium. 

The Infrastrucuture Engineer is an aspiring subject matter expert for technologies including but not limited to, virtualisation, SAN, data protection, Microsoft and Linux operating systems, automation principals and Cloud technologies. This role will manage and maintain standards of the infrastructure platform, monitoring services, and server management systems

 

Key responsibilities

 

·         Maintain and develop standards, processes, policies and lifecycles as defined in Quantium’s Server Management Program, aligning with industry leading practice

·         Deployment and configuration management of the server environment and associated infrastructure

·         Identify solutions to improve the service delivery and operational aspects of server technology through simplification, automation of process and technology

·         Assist with developing and implementing functional and technical designs/plan for the deployment and delivery of IT solutions

·         Research emerging technologies and recommend those that clearly link to current and future business needs

·         Coordinate and liaise with Quantium’s vendors and managed service providers

·         Build and develop strong cross functional relationships through consultation and teamwork with other Lines of Business and the business stakeholders

·         Manage the installation and maintenance of server hardware

  • Maintain a secure and hardened environment utilising tools such as MECM

 

Key activities

 

·         Managing the deployment, operation, refresh, replacement and retirement and lifecycle of all infrastructure components including, Compute, Storage and Network Services, Server OS, Identity Services, Citrix, Exchange (O365) and other core platforms.

·         Manage the planning, engineering, supporting, documenting and implementing the migration of an existing infrastructure to a standardized virtualized environment

·         Provide escalated technical support, troubleshooting and fault rectification of issues relating to Infrastructure & Cloud services.

·         Developing, documenting, and maintaining policies, procedures and associated training plans for systems

·         Participating in on-call rotation (24x7) during business emergencies

·         Mentor and/or support other members of the IT team such as Infrastructure Administrators and Desktop Support Engineers

 

Experience and education required

 

•    3+ years experience in the industry
•    Virtualisation and Cloud computing experience
•    Experience with MS Domain services (AD,DNS,DHCP,GP)
•    Experience with Storage technologies 
•    Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Ruby, PowerShell)
•    Experience with vulnerability management for different operating systems
•    Excellent research and problem solving skills
•    Data Centre Management


Desireable skills:
•    Experience with M365 apps
